Picture it like this: an army of evil beings are bearing down on planet Earth intent on enslaving and destroying all of its inhabitants. If this were a movie, we all know how it would play out: there would come a super hero--one who is able to defeat this evil army because of abilities specific for the purpose.
In real life, believe it or not, there is just such an army of evil beings, who are intent on enslaving us to sin. They capture us and put us in dungeons where we are tormented by demons of lust, addiction, anger, hurt, unforgiveness, greed, fear, and, well the list goes on and on. We live in a world of spiritual warfare, and the results of that warfare are seen in the physical realm.
Our family has been attacked over and over by a warlord I will call "The Breaker of Marriages."
He commands a legion of demons such as anger, unforgiveness, jealousy, greed, to name a few. We can't fight against them on our own. Along comes our Super Hero--Jesus, who long ago paid the price for our release from this army of evil!
The Lord woke me up this morning with these verses:
"Last of all I want to remind you that your strength must come from the Lord's mighty power within you. Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies--the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world.
So use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is over, you will still be standing up.
But to do this, you will need the strong belt of truth and the breastplate of God's approval. Wear shoes that are able to speed you as you preach the Good News of peace with God. In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. You will need the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
Pray all the time. Ask God for anything in line with the Holy Spirit's wishes. Plead with him, reminding him of your needs, and keep praying earnestly for all Christians everywhere" Eph. 6: 10-18. TLB
