Peace on earth--what a concept! I have always imagined that it means that the whole world will be at peace--something that has not happened since the Garden of Eden--pre-apple-eating. Since that moment when sin entered in, the world has gotten less and less peaceful! There will be a time after the return of Jesus when the world will finally know peace.
However, if you don't want to wait that long, peace is available to each of us at any moment at any day, through the only source. We cannot look to anyone or anything of this world for our peace: our job, our bank account, our family, our church. The only peace comes from completely trusting Jesus for everything: our job, our bank account, our family, our church...everything!
Today is the first day of a new year. God alone knows the challenges (and the joys!) that await us in this year. We can face them one of two ways: with Him or without Him. I, for one, choose to face this day, with Him--my Rock, my Refuge, my very present help in time of need! He had a plan in mind from the very beginning, and that was the cross of Jesus. And as the old hymn says, "At the cross, where the burden of my sins rolled away..." There is no greater relief, or peace, than that!
There is sign along Hwy 81 down by Madison that says, "No God, no peace. Know God, know peace," Dear friends, choose to know God, to know peace. Go to that cross, and let Jesus roll away the burden of your sins! Let him give you peace.
